Ahhh… movies. They can be inspiring and funny.

He makes funny, quirky videos that become viral…in other words…people want to share them. This college guy has gotten so good at what he does that he has been approached to work with many television studios and gets contacted by marketing firms who want to pay him to create videos for them.

With teaching people how to make videos, he strongly believes in making lessons entertainingly funny…not boring. The Apprentice

I have been watching ” The Apprentice ” again this season and have watched each season, except for the very first two. Monday (tomorrow night) , June 5th is Donald Trump ’s “THE APPRENTICE” SEASON FINALE and it will be the most star-studded Apprentice ever with Jason Priestly, Jamie Pressly, Michael J. Fox, Denis Leary, the Barenaked Ladies and many, many more! It will be rebroadcast on Wednesday. I am really excited to see this show since the last show left us hanging. There are two guys left, Lee and Sean. A sad thing happened with Andrea, a past Apprentice participant. She was selected as one of three to help Sean in the final task, but she had to leave and go to a doctor because she was coughing up blood in the last episode. I am anxious to see what was wrong with her. I hope she is alright.The Apprentice shares a lot of “lessons learned” in business. After watching the third season, which was my first time seeing the show, I gained an interest in Trump’s books. So, I purchased the book, ” How to get Rich “, which is now online. I read through it quickly and enjoyed it. Trump included business advice, including how to : invest wisely, impress the boss and get a raise, manage a business efficiently, negotiate anything, and much more.

I also read ” Think Like a Billionaire .” Trump gives more business advice about success, real estate, and life. There is a section of the book where he gives a day by day blow of what he does for a week. He tells the time of day and what tasks he did during that time. As I was reading this part, I realized how it was similar to an online journal or blog.

Now Trump has started a new website, called TRUMP UNIVERSITY . What better way to learn than by interacting online, eh? Trump University is a dynamic business education company that delivers the knowledge and experience of Donald Trump and his hand picked team of experts in a world-class curriculum. Topics include: real estate, entrepreneurship (that’s me), management, wealth creation, and career. Trump even has a blog! I have signed up for updates myself, and I do plan to hang out at the site to learn what I can.

Keep It Simple with Simpleology

To accomplish a goal, you have to stay focused on it until you reach that goal. It is not always easy to do. There are barrages of things popping up every day that distract you. There are people who don’t believe in you and will try to bring you down. There are obstacles that get in the way and things you have to learn to get ahead.

No one wants to be fat, no one wants to be poor, no one wants to be a nothing… you get the idea.

Take for instance, the goal of losing weight. It can be a goal at any time of year, but tends to mainly be set at the beginning of each year. A new year brings a new goal.

You will have cravings pop up. There will be birthdays and holidays where sweets are the center of attention. Some days you will have too much to do that you won’t be able to exercise. There will be people who think you will never lose the weight. They will observe what you eat and criticize you for eating the wrong things. Stressful situations will come up that make you focus on them instead of your goal. You will have to learn a new way of eating and exercising for life to keep the weight off and stay healthy.

It seems like a lot, but if you are in the right frame of mind, you can do it! You can accomplish just about any goal you want.

I can’t always help people the way I would like to fulfill their dreams. There aren’t enough hours in a day since I am also trying to accomplish my own goals and spend time with my family. I can however, help by sharing some great resources or create resources for people to use in their quests.

Today I have a good one. I have even had my kids use this resource with me. It’s sort of based on the saying “Stick to the Task” and “Keep it Simple Silly” or “Keep it Simple Stupid.” The website is called Simpleology. I signed up for the free Simpleology 101 and receive these wonderful daily newsletters that remind me to keep things in life simple and focus on my goals. There are daily lessons, videos, quizzes and more.

Simpleology was created by a guy named Mark Joyner who is very successful in the online world and is located in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have read many of his online newsletters over the years and really like them. They always seem full of useful information and resources.

Virtual Online Trade Show

Have you ever attended a virtual online trade show before? It is actually something new. The first one I attended was in February at eComXpo . What kind of person attends eComXpo? Advertisers , Publishers, Search Marketers, Merchants, Affiliates, Networks, Directors of eCommerce, Technical Personnel, Agencies, Vendors, Affiliate managers, Brand managers, Marketing Directors, Webmasters, and Media Buyers. My kind of people, right?

I liked eComXpo so much that I signed up and attended again on October 6th, 7th, and 8th. It was even better as it changed to allow “on demand” presentations that you can watch if you missed a presentation time on the schedule. There were more sponsors, exhibitions, attendees, and presentations, including great ones from my friend Shawn Collins and from Seth Godin). I also liked that they allowed photos in the profile so that you can see what each other looks like. However, luck was not on my side during this last exhibition. I sat here with it raining all week, which makes my satellite go in and out (mostly out) and my backup (AOL) was not cooperating at all. So, I missed a majority of it. … thank goodness for the “on demand” presentations!

The good news is that as unlucky as I was with the connection, I did get lucky enough to win a Thomas Kinkade Collectible prize from Collectibles Today. ($135 value). If you don’t think that is lucky, then you didn’t know that I also won two prizes during the first exhibition. I won a $50 gift certificate to Maryland Square, and an ipod mini from the eComXpo which my husband promptly confiscated.

I plan to attend the expo again in April! If you do, then maybe I’ll see you there!

Starting a website

I get asked certain questions about starting a website often. I thought I would go ahead and give some directions on here to help others who might need to know…

Steps to getting your DOMAIN NAME and HOSTING set up…

Step 1) Domain name : the name of your website (cost: yearly: usually $14.95). I usually purchase my domains through Its Your Domain . I have used them for years and have had no problems. Their back end is user friendly. Changing DNS (domain name servers), updating billing information, etc. are real easy. I recommend that you have your domain name AUTO RENEW so you don’t forget to renew them, or you will lose them.

Step 2) Hosting : the place where you store your files for your website (cost: monthly: usually $7, $10, or $15 or more depending on things you need). I never purchase my domain names and hosting from the same place. I never put all of my eggs in one basket in case something happens to one of them. For hosting, I use Host Gator and I have been EXTREMELY happy using their service. Host Gator also has lots of goodies for your website to utilize. Once you have purchased your domain name and your hosting, you need to point the DOMAIN NAME to the HOST by changing the DNS (domain name servers). I will tell you how in Step 3 and Step 4.

Step 3) You will have received an email notice that your domain name is purchased. You will also have received an email notice that your Host Gator account is active. Make sure you have also received your email notice from Host Gator that tells you the DNS (domain name servers) to use. The name servers for your domain to point to will look something like this: Nameserver: ns.hostgator.com. (there are two of these nameservers)

Step 4) You will now log into Its Your Domain and point your DOMAIN NAME to your Host Gator HOST where your files will reside. Here is how:
- Go to Its Your Domain
- Login and and go to the link that says “Change DNS/Hosting Info” (Modify Domain Name Server & IP addresses)
- Check the box beside your domain name that you need to change the DNS information on and click “Continue”
- On this next page, you will see a “DNS Information” table with four little boxes.
- Replace the first two domain name servers to the new ones from LiveRack.
- Click continue and you should be done.

After the steps above, you will either be hiring a website designer or creating the website yourself.
Keep in mind that it sometimes takes 24-48 hours to have the DNS updated across the internet.

Thanks Wendy! You are a wealth of information, Girl! I’ve thought about upgrading a couple of my websites; as you know, I use the freebies. I hate all the ads, but I must say, I learned a few things. So, I have a question, if I upgrade the website I had you look at last week, will I lose all the files in upgrading or will they stay intact??

Hi Tasha. I started out learning on the freebies also. I hated the ads and didn’t like that I wasn’t taken seriously as a website owner. The domains and hosting services were more expensive when I first started.

The files will have to be moved to your new host. If you are upgrading on the freebies host, you will have to read their instructions as to whether the files remain or not. Are you using their online editor or are you using hand coding, or an html editor?
