I’ve been memed. What is a meme?
Wikipedia describes it in blog terms as:
MEME: sometimes used to mean any piece of information that is passed from one mind to another.
So I was given a set of 7 questions to answer and then to pass on…
There is a book theme to this meme.
1. You’re stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be?
I actually haven’t read this book. I looked it up at Amazon and read the description. Sounds interesting. I will have to read it.
2. Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?
No. I haven’t had a crush on a fictional character from a book. I do get crushes on movie characters. May be a visual thing.
3. The last book you bought is:
I just purchased the newly illustrated book,The Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien. The illustrations are done by Ted Nasmith, who is a well known Tolkien illustrator. I had started reading the paperback version and got about 1/3 of the way finished. I heard it is more pleasant reading the book along with the illustrations. So, I bought this hard back version. BTW, I had done an interview online with Ted Nasmith which you can read … click here http://www.dreamish.com/artist/tednasmith.shtml I hope to update the interview with some new questions soon.
I also bought another fiction book at the same time as The Silmarillion… The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud. I haven’t read it yet, but I will soon.
4. The last book you read:
The Stoneholding : Written by Mark James and illustrated by Ted Nasmith, Tolkien Illustrator. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the journey enriched with descriptive characters. I was drawn into the story and found it hard to put the book down. I liked it so much that I bought a couple more and have even set up a “fan” website called TheLostHarp at http://www.thelostharp.com I will post updates, educational things, and fun stuff to go along with the books. The authors also have log in information to post news about their book signings, new book releases, etc. If you like fantasy fiction, you will enjoy this book. It is not yet in bookstores, but you can purchase through the website, TheLostHarp.com . First chapter is posted for you to read for free.
Before reading The Stoneholding book, I read Sean Astin’s new book, There and Back again, An Actor’s Tale. Wonderful view of Sean’s journey as an actor. I would love to do an interview with him sometime and post it on my websites. Maybe he will contact me.
I also read The Da Vinci Code (another book I couldn’t put down).
5. What are you currently reading?
I am reading two:
Reading #1: Eragon, by Christopher Paolini. My son is crazy about this book. He can’t wait until the movie comes out and the next book in the Trilogy. I figured, if he loves it this much, I had better read it!
Reading #2: Purple Cow, by Seth Godin. It is a marketing book. Very highly recommended.
6. Five books you would take to a deserted island:
Book 1. First choice is my Bible. When all seems hopeless, this is the book to have.
Book 2. Book on survival and building a raft, should I want to get off.
Book 3. The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Hobbit set of books. I never get tired of reading them.
Book 4. The Stoneholding. I can read this book again and again.
Book 5. Harry Potter series of books.
7. Who are you going to pass this stick to (3 persons) and why?
Person 1: To Michael, my loving husband, give him something to blog about.
Person 2: To Ken La Kier, actor friend.
Person 3: Hmm… I don’t know anyone else well enough who blogs. I couldn’t meme my friend Shawn Collins because my friend Barb already did.
