Thanks to Nancy Rones, Parents Magazine and everyone who wrote in about it as well as my friend who sent me the scanned image. :) If anyone has a copy of the magazine to send me, please message me.

Online Millionaire - Book Review

Monday, September 17th, 2007

Will Moore reviewed the book, Online Millionaire

“The Internet is no longer an uncharted business frontier”… the first words I read.

The Online Millionaire is a how-to that zeroes in on this idea.

Serving up lessons on everything from eBay to building your own website author Amy Joyner backs up theory with stories from the front lines.

Lacing each chapter with stories retold by online millionaires, Joyner’s 101 approach (with sub-chapter headings like The Lowdown and How It Works) may not appeal to the Internet enthusiast, or anyone under the age of 16, but will be a breath of fresh air to the web-challenged. Joyner keeps it simple and paints with broad strokes . . . so for me - a member of the latter group, Millionaire helped break down the intimidating and self-imposed barriers I have towards the Internet. I couldn’t build a website before reading the book and I probably won’t anytime soon, but the curtain has been pulled and the mystery revealed.

My Exciting News - Video … ( Actor Sean Patrick Flanery )

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

I can’t believe my littlest guy is now 8 years old today! He is excited and very happy on his birthday.Well, I have had very limited internet access since yesterday. I can’t understand how satellite can cost so much and still not allow near as much as DSL in usage. Verizon guys are coming today to hopefully fix our phone lines and DSL that were knocked out by a lightning storm.I will get back to everyone as soon as I can. I am starting to feel like my head is coming out of a fog from this bad cold.

The Exciting stuff is… I am working with actor Sean Patrick Flanery on his Official website for fans. He has been in such films as Boondock Saints, Powder and so many more! You will find his IMDB link on the website.

Here is a video that I just put up in the wee hours of the morning of him announcing his new website…

He is also on MySpace, so go - Add him as a friend for new videos and updates!

Help me spread the word about this by posting this on your website or by sending to your family and friends. Let’s see how many people we can reach!

Book Review - The Online Millionaire

The Online Millionaire
Strategies for Building a Web-Based Empire on eBay and Beyond

The Online Millionaire Don’t let the word “Millionaire” scare you away from getting your hands on this book. When you are armed with the right knowledge, tools, and willpower, the possibilities are endless.

It is written by Amy Joyner. She previously wrote the book “The eBay Millionaire” and other numerous books. She also runs her own successful eBay business and has quite a history as a business and technology reporter.

If you are familiar with selling items on eBay and/or selling items from your own website, you will really enjoy the opportunities described in each chapter of this book. You’ll be shown ideas of how to expand exposure for your business.

Amy presents information in an easy to follow layout and includes an Action Plan in each chapter. Topics range from auctions and other online marketplaces to the tools that are available to help you streamline your business.

You will also read two to three success stories within each section. I thoroughly enjoyed reading these and I will definitely refer to them again for inspiration. You won’t feel alone when you learn how some current thriving businesses started out of necessity and with hardly any available financing. Amy does a great job relating the stories, including mine, which is the last story in the book about success with Affiliate Programs.

Think of this as a must-have reference… a road map to kick your business into high gear.

I’m not worthy…

Saturday, February 3rd, 2007

I’m not worthy… well, I don’t feel totally worthy, but I do hope it helps inspire some people. I was interviewed last year, by a sweet author named Amy. The interview made it into a 6 page section of a book she wrote that just came out in January 2007. The book is called The Online Millionaire. I haven’t made a million dollars, not even near it, but my story is one that seems to inspire people. I am holding a giveaway on my website for one copy of the book - go here. or just go and buy the book here.

How It Started

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

The topic of my beginnings online came up again today, so I thought I would go ahead and post a bit about it for you to read.

My husband and I both started online at the same time. We started online around 1997. We made webpages at free hosting sites including Geocities and AOL. My screen name used to be “snowyowl”. We learned everything from scratch.

I created my first website with a focus on different topics that I enjoyed. At the time it was about family, homeschooling my kids, household tips, and such. Over time I learned about programs that popped up which allows people to post a banner or text link on their website and get paid for each time a click came through. These programs are referred to as affiliate-programs. I joined and made a ‘little’ money. I decided to look further into making money with websites from that point on.

One main thing that I learned is that you aren’t taken seriously online unless you have your own domain. No self respecting business would make their site on a free hosting server. I decided to set up my first .com website and named it Tipz Time. You can see the official first page in the “Internet Wayback Machine Archives” (images are no longer active).

I’ve come a long way over the years earning online. I am thankful to many people who have made a difference in my life by offering advice, encouragement, and just believing in me. I have definitely shared with others in a sort of ‘pay it forward’ effect.

Thanks also to Shawn Collins and Lisa Picarille, Editor-in-Chief of Revenue Magazine, for letting me share my experiences and encourage people through different medias. Just today I did my very first audio podcast with both of them through their online show “Affiliate Thing”. Go and take a listen and let me know what you think!

Writing a Book

Thursday, October 12th, 2006
I have decided, after much time, to write a book(s)… perhaps even a series of ebooks first. I have posed a question to my viewers across a few of my websites. The email said this:
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
I have been online for around 10 years. I have done many different things to help earn a living for our family and have now become the main breadwinner. I get lots of questions and thought I should write a book(s) and/or ebooks to share my experiences with others. There are a range of things I have done (and still do) that include: reselling, auctions, computer graphics, websites with content, website design, selling my own products, drop shipping, wholesaling, advertising, direct sales, and more.**Question: Do you have something you are curious about in any of those areas? If so, please send your question to me.Think of it as sort of an interview. I will collect your questions and answer them to provide exactly what you would like to know and put the information in a book(s). I have seen too many people do the wrong things or unnecessary things when trying to do a business online. Hopefully this can be avoided with my suggestions or information. Send in your questions along with your Name/State/Country/Business for credit. I can’t guarantee I will use all questions, but I will try. Go ahead and pass this along to anyone you think would like to ask a question too. If I create an ebook with your question in it, I will give you a complimentary copy of the ebook. :)
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I have now received over 70 replies and some contain multiple questions. I am collecting these and have already started with the beginnings of the book(s).

What have you been up to? :P
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Wendy,

Excellent venture, I must say… only thing I can ask is, “why did you wait so long?” Please let me know if you would like an extra set of eyes to look over anything for you… I’d be happy to help out!

Love,
Lee

Hi, Wendy;
I’ve been trying to figure out how to do many of the things you’ve got listed, for a few years, now, in between everything else life tends to throw my way, even a fulltime attempt as a “Work from Home” job. I guess, if I were to ask a Q for your book, it would be along the lines of where a woman can go to get this kind of info–simply, and clearly put–for free? One site or e-book would be enough to get the ball rolling, then the other things could have a price tag! (Did that make any sense?)
Anyway, I just found your site(s) and I am inspired.
thanks,
abbie

KEYN 103.7 FM Radio

Saturday, June 3rd, 2006

I am really liking Wichita, Kansas, and I haven’t even been there, that I can think of. A subscriber, Nita H., wrote on May 26th to let me know my Chart Jungle .com website was mentioned on the KEYN 103.7 FM radio station.

I asked her what was mentioned and she said “It was on either that morning or the morning before. They were discussing getting family life under control and asked the audience if they scheduled their childrens’ days. One of the listeners called in exclaiming how wonderful your site is.”

My husband mentioned that it seems Wichita has a great network of parents helping each other. I think it is great!

-Thanks to the listener who called in!
-Thanks Nita for letting me know!
-Thanks KEYN 103.7 FM Radio!
