My own new projects: Profile Minders, and…

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Ok… so I always have a million ideas, right?

In my experience this past year, there is a great need for people to have help with their online profiles. I decided to start a website targeting this problem and offer a service. I’m calling it Profile Minders: http://www.profileminders.com

In addition to this, I am going to be starting an online magazine sometime this month for all of those folks showcased on Officially Plugged In - so get those videos sent in and you’ll get to be a part of it. http://www.officiallypluggedin.com

That’s enough for now. As more things happen, I’ll post about it. :)

Hey, post below what you are up to. I love to hear about it.

Story I wrote - What do you think?

Friday, May 16th, 2008

I recently wrote a story that my brother helped to edit. What do you think?…

Oh, and pass it on please!!! XOXOXO

MEET A CELEBRITY - CHOOSE A PATH

Meet a Celebrity

Imagine this; you are exploring the internet seeking entertainment. You spy the social network webpage of a well-known actor that you adore. You sign up for an account on this social network and add this actor as a friend. You then decide to send a message expressing your adoration and gratitude for the actor’s work over the years. You secretly hope this actor reads and replies to your message.

You go to sleep that evening as the idea briefly revisits your thoughts before you doze off.

The next afternoon when you have a free moment, you decide to log in to your social network account to explore and find some new entertaining folks to befriend.

You are surprised to see a message reply from the actor you wrote to the day before. Can it be, really? Does this actor personally have time to write messages with such a busy life?

You excitedly open the message and think that maybe an assistant sent this reply. However, you find the message is actually signed by the actor. Wow! How nice.

The message was a short thankful reply sent directly from the actor. Your heart is aflutter with excitement. For a moment, you’re floating on cloud nine with the personal message received. Your thoughts focus on trying to muster up another good reason to touch this person’s life again, hoping you won’t bother them too much.

Before you know it, you have corresponded back and forth several times and visions of meeting this actor in person now seem more of a reality than a dream.

Choose a Path

1) Go find more actors/actresses:

2) Meet the actor in person:

Thanks to Nancy Rones, Parents Magazine and everyone who wrote in about it as well as my friend who sent me the scanned image. :) If anyone has a copy of the magazine to send me, please message me.

Paper Crafts - Room to RoomA kind reader has informed me that my Chart Jungle (free printables) site has made a magazine appearance in Paper Crafts magazine, Room to Room. This looks like a fun magazine if you are into making paper crafts for home decorating.

Click here to see the large image of where Chart Jungle was mentioned. I blurred out the content of the page for the reason that this is a magazine by subscription and didn’t want to post their content.

Thanks for letting me know about this Jo! :)

…and also thanks to Paper Crafts magazine.

I wrote … Resale Mode …

Sunday, May 13th, 2007

Yes, I finally finished writing the first in about eight ebooks that I have planned. I am sharing information I have learned in my 10 years of being online earning an income. Lots of people have asked for info from me over the years and with the increase in this, I have decided to digitally publish what I know to make it easier to reference it to others. I also had planned to write a book one day that would encourage my children and other people. This is the beginning of that journey.

During the end of last year I started outlining and sorting questions. The holidays kept me from writing too much. Then I got into a funk for a few months at the beginning of this year, but I still wrote more. I was determined as I usually get when I am passionate about something. I set aside time when I could, mostly on the weekends, or in the evening, and finished one. Then I sent it to be looked over by some family members and a couple of friends.

The beauty of a digital book is that changes, adjustments, and additions can be done as desired. This is version one… and so I have just begun. :) I will then publish these offline as well in the near future.

Here is the post I made on my business blog…

I have finished writing and released the first version of my new ebook (digital book).

This ebook is about one of the first ways I started earning income online while I was able to stay home with my children. It includes information for people who want to learn how to resell online. There are also sections that include answers to some of the questions my website readers asked.

There are two versions of the ebook. One with information only and the other has some step-by-step directions on how to sign up for ebay and paypal and comes with five bonus printables.

The first 100 orders of ‘Option 2′ get a special deal…
Resale Mode

What will you find in this ebook?
- Reselling and Auctions

- Selling Online
- Reselling Online Overview
- Start Up Costs
- Accepting Payments
- Creating Crafts To Sell
- Types of items to sell
- Marketing
- Safety
- Resources
- Answers To 14 Questions
- And More!

Just think, you can spend money on dvds, cds, etc. Or buy an ebook to help you learn how to earn money online from your home. … www.resalemode.com

*** If you or someone you know has been successful at reselling items, have them drop me a line and let me know their story. If inspiring, I would like to add it to the ebook and include a link to their online store. I will accept a limited number of these.

Please forward to this to anyone you think would be interested. I really appreciate it. :)
Oh… and if you do forward it, let me know! I would like to thank you!

Creativity and Who is Creating What

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

Creativity can keep you sane, right? I mean, there are many ways to spend your time and express your feelings. Some people are more social and others express themselves in other creative ways, while some people can balance both.

Here is a run down of people who have been creating stuff over the last month, including me. :P And… where did the month go since I last posted?? Time flies too fast!

My latest creations:

Through Your Eyes- THROUGH YOUR EYES: A website project that I worked on for the world’s only know deaf/blind triplets. It was a task that had to be done in a short period of time as the story was to be highlighted on the Dr. Phil show. The documentary is to be completed around May of this year. Harwin is behind the music. They created a song specifically for the family called “Behind Those Eyes.” The documentary is being created by James and Cory. All producer profits are going towards helping the family. So go to www.throughyoureyes.com if you want to help by purchasing the music and/or pre-ordering the documentary. Here is the Official Myspace for Through Your Eyes.

- TIPZ TIME: I also decided to give one of my websites, Tipz Time (household tips, etc.), a facelift to allow for a wider content area and a graphic color scheme that can easily be changed from purple to green or whatever I desire for each season. I still have some back pages to change out.

- STUDIO MATRIX: Another site of mine, Studio Matrix, needed to be re-invented. So I decided to update the ‘look’ and start selling some graphics again. This time I am selling website graphic headers. These are very useful to webmasters who are looking for a quick change for their website. Most of the time, the part below the header is the same… three columns, two columns, with content in certain places, but the header can be changed to give the website a facelift or the headers can be used to make a quick site. These are exclusive… meaning I only sell the header once… not like some template sites that resell the same templates or graphics to 10 or so people. These headers can be tweaked in a graphics program or the person who buys it can have a graphic designer or webmaster tweak and incorporate a ‘look’ to go with it. I am incorporating a business forum, which I should finish today. I love creating the graphics. :)

- ARTWORK: My scanner was being a booger and not working for a while, so I wasn’t able to scan in my funky artwork. I finally figured out what happened. The USB cord wasn’t working. I had switched out the USB cord with an older one from a previous scanner, and it is now working. So… here is my artwork, silly or funky or strange as it may be ( I just create whatever I feel like doing at the moment )

- EBOOKS: I have now reached page 23 of one of my first ebooks. :P I know, I have been lagging on it… but I am getting there!

I am not the only one who has been busy creating, my friends have been doing awesome things too! See for yourself…

- NEW SONG: Brett Pemberton Brett has created a beautiful new song called “Just My Kind”. I was in a grumpy mood much of the day when he sent it to me, but then that mood melted away while listening to his new song. His song has a wonderful melodic dreamy feel to it.

- NEW INTERVIEW:Betty Betty from NoteworthyCrafts.com did interview for Dreamish.com. I received a message from Betty about an interesting project and the person behind it which would make for a great interview. At the time I was a little overwhelmed and since the story was inspirational and has an important message, I asked if she would like to conduct the interview and she agreed to. - Read it here

- NEW DVD:Four Eyed Monsters Arin and Susan of Four Eyed Monsters have created their DVD, which I anxiously await to watch. You must go and see the episodes! It is a creative and dramatic look into the filmmaking process they have had to deal with. Make sure to pre-order a dvd. :)

- NEW MUSIC:Eddie Eddie has recently shared a creative musician, Chris Garneauand, his new music.

- NEW INTERVIEW:Mike Mike just posted an interesting interview about Ezel.

I think that is all for now… if I forgot someone, feel free to post what your latest creations are so I can take a look! :)

I’m not worthy…

Saturday, February 3rd, 2007

I’m not worthy… well, I don’t feel totally worthy, but I do hope it helps inspire some people. I was interviewed last year, by a sweet author named Amy. The interview made it into a 6 page section of a book she wrote that just came out in January 2007. The book is called The Online Millionaire. I haven’t made a million dollars, not even near it, but my story is one that seems to inspire people. I am holding a giveaway on my website for one copy of the book - go here. or just go and buy the book here.

Half Naked, 30k project, more…

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

Ok, I want to post a blog with a little of everything on my mind lately. :)

1) I was rummaging through photos today and ran across a half naked photo of myself. Here it is…

2) Since it is the new year and I found I hadn’t fully accomplished a goal I wanted to do last year, I looked into how much it would cost to bring a big idea I have into fruition. Well, the cost is estimated at 20k-30k. Wow. Yes, that is how big of an idea it is. I just seem to be full of the ideas without a ton of financing to put into the projects. I have considered partners, sponsors, and someone mentioned I should look into grants that I wouldn’t have to pay back. I don’t know anything about that. I have been brainstorming about it. I don’t want a corporation behind it at this point, because it is my baby and I want to be in control. When too many people get in on the decision making, it gets expensive and drawn out time wise. So, I would rather try and find a way to raise the funds and have the website built. I wish I could code it, but there are areas in the system that I can’t possibly do at this point. So, I either have to learn, or I have to hire out for it. I know a great guy, I just need the funds. Options at this point are a donation that gets repaid over time, or preselling sponsorships, and a few other ideas I have.

Know of anyone who wants to donate money as a gift with no strings attached? or in exchange for advertising? (has to be family friendly) Gosh, when I say that I realize it starts to sound like someone trying to raise funds in the film business for an independent feature film they want to make. It is hard, but can be done. I know it can. If not, I will find a way! Unfortunately, this isn’t the only big idea brewing around in my head… but it is the only one I have written down right now. (frustration, anguish, nagging feelings to get this project going) Figures, big ideas, small wallet. :P

3) New year, new look… I opened up my graphics program when I wasn’t feeling well and worked on some new graphics for my website on my www.wendyshepherd.com website. Take a look and let me know if you run across any errors. Thanks!

4) At the beginning of the New Year, I love hearing from my friends. I love to know what their plans and goals are. Here is what I found out recently…

Shawn just sold out his Affiliate Summit. My friend knows his stuff and loves what he does helping others in the industry.

Brett is traveling to some exciting places! Man, to be able to see those beautiful spots in the world and mingle with wonderful people. I hope you have the time of your life!

Karlyn has recently started working for ModernSage.com Modern Sage is a leading women’s natural health community where you will find great advice from experts and members on living well, natural remedies, healthy meals, spirituality, family, work, laughter, inspiration, and much more. Congrats!

Dean has decided to go forward with his dreams of writing. There is nothing more exciting than putting your ideas on paper or typing them up and seeing them come to life.

Mikel has lots of film projects he is working on. Will is coming out with his new film, Cowboy Smoke, in which I designed the official website.

Mike is working on more interviews and is the personal assistant of Kim Poirier

Paul has been working on beautiful paintings and showing them, along with doing 3d graphics for our Graphicpod.com website and working on acting and writings for film/tv.

Stuart gives great advice and is rubbing elbows with some really wonderful people in the marketing industry and we’ll be doing something sometime this month that I will announce later.

Tara keeps creating cool online products. We met on Mark Joyner’s Simpleology forums and I am looking forward to Mark’s new book!

Joel is having more helpful products created and launching them soon.

Brad now has renamed his band to Annasay and has released some new songs.

Zachary was nominated for a local award (a Kenny) in Rockville, MD, for the song “The Process,” and will be playing at the award night.

Jonathan recently did an interview with me that I posted in a previous blog and will be touring with some bands.

Eddie recently got a new job which he loves and posted a cool list of best music in 2006.

James Gunn just posted how his film SLiTHER got the best feature film of 2006 in RUE MORGUE magazine! and his wife, Jenna, has been on Rachael Ray, QVC, and a NEW “The Office” episode. (I like reading their blogs since they are so “real” and share some neat stuff)

Susan and Arin (Four Eyed Monsters film) are going to do a screening in Second Life. I look forward to trying to participate!

Drake Bell just released his new CD and has been appearing on tv and across the internet doing interviews. I have been addicted to the song “Fool the World”.

Ok, that is all for now. If I forgot anyone, it is probably because I haven’t touched base with you yet. So, please feel free to comment about what you are up to as I would love to know!!

How It Started

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

The topic of my beginnings online came up again today, so I thought I would go ahead and post a bit about it for you to read.

My husband and I both started online at the same time. We started online around 1997. We made webpages at free hosting sites including Geocities and AOL. My screen name used to be “snowyowl”. We learned everything from scratch.

I created my first website with a focus on different topics that I enjoyed. At the time it was about family, homeschooling my kids, household tips, and such. Over time I learned about programs that popped up which allows people to post a banner or text link on their website and get paid for each time a click came through. These programs are referred to as affiliate-programs. I joined and made a ‘little’ money. I decided to look further into making money with websites from that point on.

One main thing that I learned is that you aren’t taken seriously online unless you have your own domain. No self respecting business would make their site on a free hosting server. I decided to set up my first .com website and named it Tipz Time. You can see the official first page in the “Internet Wayback Machine Archives” (images are no longer active).

I’ve come a long way over the years earning online. I am thankful to many people who have made a difference in my life by offering advice, encouragement, and just believing in me. I have definitely shared with others in a sort of ‘pay it forward’ effect.

Thanks also to Shawn Collins and Lisa Picarille, Editor-in-Chief of Revenue Magazine, for letting me share my experiences and encourage people through different medias. Just today I did my very first audio podcast with both of them through their online show “Affiliate Thing”. Go and take a listen and let me know what you think!

Cleaning Up WebSite

Saturday, October 14th, 2006
I am in the process of cleaning up my personal site here. I am going to have two blogs, instead of one. One blog will be more personal for my friends and family with things going on in regular life. The other blog will be internet business like to allow more focus to those who are interested in that area. In light of these changes, soon there will also be two newsletter updates to choose from. One newsletter for each blog. That way if you are only interested in the business type stuff I talk about, you don’t have to listen to any person topics. And for my friends and family that only want personal/web updates, you can have that without the business mumbo-jumbo that you aren’t interested in.Doing this change will also allow me to highlight the books/ebooks that I write. My main page will be separated into different areas to easily find topics of interest.Coming soon! :P
……………………………………
1.I don’t see anything wrong with having it all together in one blog, but I am seeing that it seems to be the standard to separate the personal from the business these days. I will be looking forward to it!
